A series of possibly unrelated observations

  1. A girl cannot work twelve hours on less than 800 calories. Especially not if she expects to function and teach.
  2. Sleep might also help the work
  3. AD makes my life better.
  4. I still get nauseous from inhailing ketones larger than acetone. So, letting my students use ethyl acetate (Ethyl methyl ketone... the solvent in nail polish) in the vaporization lab?  Probably not such a smart idea...
  5. I'm enough older than my students now (4 years) that its kind of creepy when one offers to take me out to dinner. Even if its the dining hall and he's just trying to get rid of extra meals.
  6. Soon, it will be too dark for me to ride my bike to school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I have an 8 am class, and don't usually get done until after 7 pm.
  7. The phrase, "Soaked to the skin" is NOT just a cloquialism... I managed to dry the carpet with a few towels. I think my jeans are still wet. At least my butt cheeks aren't.
  8. One should read the labels written on places carefully. If one is trying to find plain day 6 cells, they probably just have the cell line and date and passing number written on them, with the initials of the person who harvested them. A dish with more writing than that probably belongs to someone. Four dishes like that probably shouldn't be mixed together...
  9. Our post-doc, JL is way more understanding than I expected when someone messed up her experiments. She basically just shrugged over the phone, said it was okay, that accidnets happen, and not to do it again. Besides, she pointed out, I had only ruined Br's experiments.
  10. My apartment feels like the middle of a washing machine now that we have almost constant rain and wind. Just a preview of coming attractions.
